New OnePlus 7 Series Update Squashes Bugs & Improves Security

OnePlus has started pushing out a new update for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro handsets, OxygenOS 10.0.3. This new update does not really bring any new features to the table, but it improves security on the two devices.

There are only two entries in the changelog that OnePlus provided. The first entry says that OxygenOS 10.0.3 brings the Android security patch for November to both the OnePlus 7 and 77 Pro.

OxygenOS 10.0.3 squashes bugs and improves security on the OnePlus 7 series

On top of that, OnePlus squashed quite a few bugs in this update, while it also improved system stability overall. So this update is all about various optimizations, and security, that’s about it.

The update is rolling out to both devices as we speak. Do note that this is a staged rollout, and it will not arrive to everyone at once.

The update is hitting a limited number of devices first. Once OnePlus makes sure that no major bugs are present, it will continue rolling it out to everyone.

If everything goes according to plan, every single global, unlocked OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro unit will have this update in about a week or so.

OnePlus had released quite a few updates for the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro. Both devices have received Android 10-based OxygenOS a couple of months ago. Ever since then, the company has been fine-tuning the experience.

OnePlus is expected to offer new features soon

Some new features are expected on the two devices, and the same goes for the 7T series. OnePlus did promise that a one-hand mode feature will be coming to its devices in the future. The same goes for the always-on feature.

The company will hopefully also offer an alternative for a notification LED light. That was not announced, as OnePlus probably sees the always-on display feature as a replacement for it, even though it isn’t. So, I wouldn’t hold my breath for something like that, but it’s always a possibility.

In any case, the company is obviously working on some new features, but it remains to be seen when will they arrive. The OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro will probably get those new features first, after which the 7 and 7 Pro will follow.

OnePlus is not expected to announce new hardware until mid-2020. If the company ends up sticking to its release cycle, the OnePlus 8 series will arrive in May.

Three OnePlus 8 devices surfaced already, the OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, and 8 Lite. It remains to be seen if all three will see the light of day, as it’s still too early to tell.
