Samsung Expanding PlayGalaxy Link Service To More Of Its Phones

Samsung is expanding its PlayGalaxy Link service by adding new phones to its compatibility list.

Before you rush off to try it with your non-Samsung device though, so far it’s still only compatible with phones from Samsung. As all the new devices being added are Samsung devices, and all the currently compatible ones are too.

Still, this is a good move on Samsung’s part. PlayGalaxy Link launched earlier this year. At the time though it was only compatible with the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10 Plus.

The new phones being added were confirmed in late November.

Samsung is expanding PlayGalaxy Link to five phones

There are five new phones which will work with the service. Back on November 27 during Samsung’s initial announcement, it said the availability would be coming in early December.

Since it’s now towards the end of the month the service should now work. As for the phones, PlayGalaxy Link is being rolled out to the Galaxy Fold, the Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9 Plus, Galaxy Note 9, and Galaxy A90.

In early November, Samsung also rolled out the service to the Galaxy S10 series devices. Including the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus, the Galaxy S10e, and the Galaxy S10 5G. So there’s now at least 11 phones which you can use to access the game streaming feature.

It may never come to non-Samsung devices

In the realm of game streaming services, there are a handful of available options. Some work with multiple types of Android devices from different brands. While others only work with a specific set.

The latter is what you get from services like Stadia and PlayGalaxy Link. Stadia only currently works with Pixel devices, while PlayGalaxy Link only currently works with Samsung devices. And all of them are phones at that.

PlayGalaxy Link may never come to non-Samsung phones either, which means if you like the though of this particular game streaming feature over others, you’ll need a Samsung phone to access it.

If you have a compatible device, using the feature is pretty simple. You just need to download the app onto your phone and a PC that you’ll be connecting with. From there, you link the two devices and games which are loaded up on your PC are streamed to your phone’s screen.

You’ll need to connect a controller or gamepad to play this way, and it’s likely not all gamepads will work.
