With the Snapdragon 865, Qualcomm is pushing the boundaries even further for mobile gaming. The Snapdragon 865 is a top-tier mobile platform though, and won’t be seen in mid-range devices and below.
This is where the Snapdragon 765G comes in. This is a gaming-focused variant of the 765 mobile platform that Qualcomm announced, and will make high-quality gaming available to more users than ever before.
Because it integrates some of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Elite Gaming features, like improved graphics rendering for smoother gameplay experiences.
The Snapdragon 765G will improve graphics by 20-percent
One of the big benefits of the 765G compared to the standard 765 will be the faster graphics rendering. According to Qualcomm this will be about a 20-percent improvement.
That means faster and smoother gameplay. It’s not the only gaming set of features that this version of the mobile platform will provide though. A collection of features are being added to this model.
This includes the Game Fast Loader, Game Network Latency Manager, and Game Smoother, all of which will work in tandem with the faster graphics rendering to provide the best possible experience.
What’s more is that the 765G will support true 10-bit HDR for better and richer colors for more enhanced details in games.
Expect smarter gaming experiences and multi-gigabit 5G gaming
Two other big gaming aspects of this mobile platform are 5G gaming and smarter gaming. Mobile networks are on the cusp of 5G right now and Qualcomm wants to be at the forefront when it comes to 5G gaming.
The Snapdragon 765G will help it do that for a wider audience. Not everyone will be able to access the most expensive smartphones with the 865. So again Qualcomm has worked hard to include games who will target phones in the mid-tier.
The 765G will support Multi-gigabit 5G gaming with projected download speeds of up to 3.7 Gbps. Qualcomm notes that this would help make game streaming a more viable possibility over mobile connections, and phones based on this mobile platform could be better suited for services like Stadia and xCloud than the mobile platforms on current devices.
It’s also introducing even more AI power so that devices can offer peak gaming performance, all of it powered by Qualcomm’s 5th-generation AI engine.
New, more immersive audio will be a step up with this model of the new mobile platform as well, and will incorporate Qualcomm aptX Adaptive. What this will do for your games is provide auto-adjustments between high-definition mode and low-latency mode.
The goal is to keep your audio in sync at all times, and overall should help with a better immersion factor in games.
