Kwikset is bringing a new Wi-Fi smart lock to the ongoing CES 2020 in Las Vegas. Called Halo Touch, the new smart lock gives users a lot of flexibility with its robust set of features. It can be operated over voice commands, as well as using a fingerprint, a physical key, or the Kwikset app.
Kwikset launched its first Wi-Fi smart lock, the Halo, at CES 2019 last January. The Spectrum Brands-owned lock manufacturer is now looking to build on that by adding fingerprint functionalities and more.
“Building upon the technological advances with the original Halo Wi-Fi-enabled Smart Locks, Kwikset once again is at the forefront of security technology with Halo Touch,” said Ali Atash, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Kwikset.

The Kwikset Halo Touch can store up to 100 fingerprints from 50 different users, in case you have that many people regularly visiting your house.
It offers one-touch locking and unlocking from all those registered fingerprints. Kwikset says the fingerprints are stored locally on the lock and not in the cloud.
The Halo Touch smart lock also lets you conveniently lock it or check the lock status over voice commands. It is compatible with both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
The Kwikset smartphone app, meanwhile, lets you remotely operate, monitor and control the lock from anywhere in the world, as long as it is connected to the internet. You can also view lock activity, manage user codes, and receive lock notifications with the app.
Talking about connection, the Halo Touch connects directly to your existing home Wi-Fi. No separate hub or subscription service is required. All you need is a Wi-Fi router, the Kwikset app, and the Halo Touch smart lock to complete the setup. And in case the technology fails, there’s a physical key that’ll work as a failsafe.
Additional safety measures include protection against common and forced entry break-in methods like lock picking, lock bumping and torque attacks.
Kwikset’s patented SmartKey Security also allows owners to re-key their locks quickly and easily if the keys are lost. The company’s Halo smart locks are Grade AAA certified by BHMA (Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association).
The Kwikset Halo Touch Wi-Fi smart lock will be available later this year for a price of $249. It will be sold online through HomeDepot.com, Lowes.com, Amazon.com, and Build.com.
The device will come in three finishes in traditional and contemporary styling: Satin Nickel, Venetian Bronze (traditional only) and Iron Black (contemporary only).
