LG V60 ThinQ Will Be Announced At MWC Barcelona Next Month

LG is expected to announce the V60 ThinQ at MWC in Barcelona next month, and it’ll be a 5G-capable smartphone.

This would be LG’s second 5G smartphone, after the LG V50 ThinQ that was announced at the same event last year, and went on sale later in the year – when networks started going live to support 5G.

LG has had a pretty limited presence at MWC Barcelona in recent years

With the changes LG has made in its mobile division, it has taken more of a backseat at Mobile World Congress – Barcelona in recent years. In 2018, it announced the V30S ThinQ, and last year the G8 ThinQ. Neither of which were met with big fanfare.

However, the LG V60 ThinQ could change that.

With Samsung announcing the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Bloom almost two weeks before the show, and other big names like Huawei doing its own event after MWC Barcelona, LG could take some of the spotlight that these companies are giving up.

This would be LG’s third, dual-display device

The rumor mill is pointing to LG giving the V60 ThinQ a dual-display once again. This is something we first saw on the V50 ThinQ and then the G8X ThinQ last year.

It was greatly improved on the G8X ThinQ, but it could still use some more changes. It’s not quite the same as the foldable phones we’re seeing from Samsung, Huawei, Motorola and other smartphones. But it is a rather unique feature for a smartphone.

It’ll also be a 5G smartphone, which should come as no surprise. With more and more manufacturers launching their own 5G devices, and carriers expanding their 5G networks. But that also means that the V60 ThinQ will likely sport the Snapdragon 865 chipset. Which is 5G capable.

Internally, we’re expecting some pretty high-end specs. Like the Snapdragon 865, at least 6GB of RAM and at least 128GB of storage.

So far, we haven’t heard a whole lot about the V60 ThinQ. In fact, we’ve heard and seen more about the LG G9 ThinQ than the V60 ThinQ, so it’s possible that both could be announced at MWC Barcelona. After all, the G8 ThinQ and V50 ThinQ were both announced at the same event last year.

At this point, we’ll have to wait just over a month to see what LG is cooking up for Mobile World Congress Barcelona this year. The event kicks off officially on February 24. With all of the press conferences happening on February 22 and 23.
