Video games get delayed all the time, and one of the latest to see a delay is the Avengers game that was coming to Stadia.
The game is being developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix, and was originally set to arrive in May. Crystal Dynamics has put out a recent blog post that says it will now be coming out September 4 instead.
The company says its reason for the delay is because it wants to deliver the ultimate Avengers gaming experience. Something which it has been proud to have accomplished before. It’s also a goal that it wants to meet again with this new game.
Stadia isn’t the only platform Avengers is being delayed for
While the game is being delayed for Stadia, Google’s cloud gaming platform isn’t the only platform the game is being delayed for.
It’s being delayed across the board for every platform where it will see a release. Which includes PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in addition to Stadia. For fans, an on-time arrival of the game would have been nice.
But, a delay shouldn’t surprise anyone either. Avengers will be an ongoing game that is supposed to deliver content to gamers for years. Which means the game content will probably evolve in quite a complex way.
Because of everything that is going into it, Crystal Dynamics wants to ensure that the game is up to its own and its fans’ high standards. If the launch of Anthem and the year that followed is anything to go by, you want an ongoing game to be as polished as possible before it opens up to players.
Other games have been delayed as well
Video game delays happen. They’re more or less part of the industry. And a delayed game is better than a game that’s rushed to meet a release deadline.
All that said, this would hardly be the only game that was coming out for Stadia to see a delay. DOOM Eternal is another title which was supposed to release last year. However Bethesda delayed it across all platforms to meet standards and make sure the game is perfect.
DOOM Eternal now launches on March 20 of this year. With both Bethesda and Google confirming that Stadia is included in that launch window along with the other platforms.
If you were looking forward to Avengers on the Stadia platform, the good news is that there will be plenty to play between now and the new release date. Big games at that.
