TP-Link Announces Three New Wi-Fi 6-Compatible Mesh Routers

TP-Link has announced a new Deco line of Wi-Fi 6-compatible mesh router systems. The new Deco range includes three products, the Deco X90, the Deco X60, and the Deco X20, offered at different speed tiers and price points. These routers also support the latest WPA 3 security standards and are compatible with Amazon Alexa.

TP-Link launched its first Wi-Fi 6-compatible mesh router, the Deco X10, just in time for CES 2019 in January last year.

Now, at CES 2020, the networking products maker is expanding the Deco lineup with three new products that combine the next-gen Wi-Fi and mesh networks into affordable packages.

“By combining mesh Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi 6, you not only increase the connection speed of your devices but also dramatically improve the network capacity and efficiency, making it the perfect solution for users with smart devices throughout their homes,” said Louis Liu, CEO of TP-Link USA.

At the top of the line is the Deco X90, a tri-band mesh router with speeds of up to 6,600Mbps (574Mbps on the 2.4GHz band, 1,201Mbps on the 5GHz band and 4,804Mbps on a second 5GHz band).

TP-Link says its “dynamic backhaul” technology can utilize all three bands to provide better speed and stability across the units.

This system can connect up to 200 devices simultaneously, and can cover an area of up to 6,000 square feet with Wi-Fi 6. No wonder it is a winner of a CES 2020 Innovation Award.

The Dec0 X90 comes in a pack of two and will be available starting April 2020 for $450. It also includes a 2.5Gbps WAN port offering up to 1Gbps high-speed internet connections.

The Deco X60 is a more affordable member of the lineup and is suitable for those who don’t need X90’s lightning-fast speeds. It has a dual-band system and can deliver speeds of up to 3,000Mbps (574Mbps on the 2.4GHz band and 2,402Mbps on the 5GHz band).

This system has a coverage of 5,000 square feet and can connect up to 150 devices at a time. The two-pack Deco X60 costs $270. TP-Link expects to make it available for consumers by March 2020.

Lastly, there is the Deco X20, which TP-Link says is a “budget-friendly way to upgrade to mesh Wi-Fi 6.” Offering a dual-band AX1800 solution, the Deco X20 caps the speed at 1,775Mbps (574Mbps on the 2.4GHz band and 1,201Mbps on the 5GHz band).

It costs $190 for a pack of two and $270 for a three-pack bundle. The Deco X20 will also be available in March 2020, alongside the X60. TP-Link isn’t sharing details about its coverage and device limit yet.
