Samsung has announced the launch of two new variants of the Galaxy Watch Active 2 in South Korea. The Galaxy Watch Active 2 Golf Edition and Active 2 LTE Aluminum are now on sale in Samsung’s home country.
As the name suggests, the Galaxy Watch Active 2 Golf Edition is supposed to be a smart assistant for golf players across the globe. It comes with an upgraded golf shot distance measurement tracking tool and the Smart Caddie app built-in. The latter offers information about more than 40,000 golf courses around the world. Samsung had also launched golf editions of the Gear S3 and the Galaxy Watch in the past.
The Galaxy Watch Active 2 Golf Edition features a lightweight fluorine rubber golf strap with a breathable design. This replaceable strap is sweat and rain resistant. Samsung is offering this device in two variants: 44mm Aqua Black and 40mm Pink Gold.
The two models are priced at KRW 393,000 (roughly $325) and KRW 359,700 ($298), respectively. They can be purchased through Samsung’s online and offline stores, National Golf Zone Market, as well as online golf shopping site Golping.
Samsung is reportedly planning to launch the Galaxy Watch Active 2 Golf Edition in the US and the UK. The company is yet to announce price and availability details for overseas markets.
Galaxy Watch Active 2 Golf Edition and LTE Aluminum variants launched in South Korea
In addition to the Golf Edition, Samsung has also launched an LTE version of the existing aluminum variant of Galaxy Watch Active 2 in South Korea. This watch is also available in both 40mm and 44mm sizes. They come in three color variants, namely Aqua Black, Cloud Silver, and Pink Gold. Prices remain the same as the Golf versions, KRW 393,000 (~$325) for 44mm model and KRW 359,700 (~$298) for 40mm model.
The Galaxy Watch Active 2 LTE Aluminum is available to purchase at all national carrier stores in South Korea. It will also arrive in some Asian and European countries down the line. Samsung hasn’t provided any ETA, though.
To recall, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 runs on the Exynos 9110 Dual-core processor and has 768MB of RAM and 4GB storage (the LTE models get 1.5GB RAM). There’s a 340 mAh battery inside the 44mm model and a 247mAh battery inside the 40mm model. The two models feature a 1.4-inch and 1.2-inch 360×360 Super AMOLED display respectively.
The Galaxy Watch Active 2 connects to Android and iOS devices through Bluetooth 5.0. The watch has IP68 water resistance and can theoretically survive up to 50 metres in depth for 10 minutes. It also boasts MIL-STD-810G certification for military-grade ruggedness. Check out our review and see why we consider the Galaxy Watch Active 2 as Samsung’s best smartwatch yet.
