The OnePlus 7 Pro 5G is finally receiving Android 10. OnePlus promised that the update will arrive in the first quarter of this year, and the company is following through with that promise.
Many people consider this update to be quite late. Why? Well, the regular OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro got the Android 10 update at the end of September, while It took OnePlus over 5 months to deliver it for the 5G variant.
The OnePlus 7 Pro 5G is getting Android 10 along with OxygenOS 10
The OnePlus 7 Pro 5G, which is sold by EE in the UK and Elisa in Finland, is getting this update. Along with Android 10, OxygenOS 10 is also arriving to the device.
The update weighs around 2.1GB, as you can see in an image provided below the article. The changelog for this handset is the same as it was for the regular OnePlus 7 Pro model.
Along with Android 10 and OxygenOS 10, you’re getting some new design elements. Quite a few things in the UI have been changed, while new full-screen gestures are also here.
You can now opt to use tweaked Google navigation gestures here. You can swipe from the left or right side of the display to go back. You can also swipe over the white line on the bottom to quickly switch between running apps.
Do note that OnePlus allows you to remove that white line on the bottom. That will remove the app quick-switching in this regard, but you’ll still be able to switch between them by swiping up and left / right.
On top of that, the company has enhanced location permissions for privacy in Android 10. New customization options in Settings allow you to choose icon shapes, and some other things.
Both ‘Game Space’ and ‘Smart Display’ are a part of this update
The ‘Game Space’ app is now a part of OxygenOS as well. It allows you to see all your favorite games in one place, and access various settings as well.
The ‘Smart Display’ option is also introduced in OxygenOS 10. It will show you intelligent information based on specific times, locations, and events. You can check this out in the Ambient Display section of Display settings.
Some SMS-related improvements have also arrived. You can now block spam by keywords in the Messages application. You’ll see a ‘Spam’ option in Settings.
That is pretty much it. This update is now rolling out OTA (over-the-air) for the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G units. If you simply cannot wait for the magic to happen, you can download and install it manually. The link is available down below.
