OnePlus 8 Series Will Probably Launch On April 15

The OnePlus 8 series will probably launch on April 15. This information has been shared by Max J., a well-known tipster. He shared the information via Twitter.

The tipster posted a concept image of the device (for illustration purposes), and over it, the aforementioned date. The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are expected to launch on April 15.

Previous reports suggested that the device will become official in mid-April. Ishan Agarwal suggested that it may happen on April 14, and that is still possible, for India. In any case, it seems like this date is accurate.

Several other people with sources in the industry suggested this date is probably spot on. Chances are that OnePlus will reveal the official launch date in about a week or so.

Only the OnePlus 8 flagships will launch on April 15, it seems

Those of you who are interested in the OnePlus 8 Lite, that handset probably won’t launch on April 15. According to rumors, the ‘Lite’ variant of the OnePlus 8 will arrive at a later date. Only the company’s flagships are coming on April 15.

The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will be quite similar in many ways. They will look almost identical, though the ‘Pro’ model will be larger, and include a slightly different camera setup.

Both devices will include curved displays, and a display camera hole in the top-left corner. They will both be made out of metal and glass, and will not include a 3.5mm headphone jack. You can also expect to get an in-display fingerprint scanner here (optical one).

Both smartphones will be fueled by the Snapdragon 865. Both of them will include plenty of RAM, and OnePlus will almost certainly utilize LPDDR5 RAM here. The company will probably use UFS 3.1 flash storage as well.

The ‘Pro’ variant may support wireless charging

An alert slider will make a comeback, while both phones may offer an official rating for water and dust resistance this time around. The OnePlus 8 Pro is even rumored to include wireless charging.

Both devices will come with 5G support. OnePlus confirmed as much recently, and it suggested that only 5G variants will be available. Those of you who were hoping for 4G models, are out of luck, as it doesn’t seem that will happen.

5G support will increase the price tags of the two devices. In other words, they’ll be more expensive than their predecessors. The company’s CEO confirmed that during a recent interview. This is not something people will be happy about, but there you go.

We’re still not sure when will the OnePlus 8 Lite arrive, but quite a few reports suggested it will launch at some point this year. It will be inferior to the other two phones, and sport a flat display.
