Amid the coronavirus pandemic, T-Mobile has upgraded customers to unlimited data plans starting March 13th, 2020. This change is applicable for all T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile customers as well.
WHO has declared the coronavirus – COVID-19 – spread as a pandemic. As a precautionary measure, most cities have shut down schools and offices, asking staff to work from home wherever possible.
T-Mobile Gives Unlimited Data to all customers with existing data plans.
T-Mobile has announced a response to the COVID-19 epidemic on their official site. The company has also assured customers that their network is fully functional and is working with 100% reliability supported by their Network Operations Centers which work 24/7.
Majority of customers on T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile already have unlimited talk, text and data plans. Similarly, T-Mobile Home Internet customers also have unlimited data plans and no surcharges.
However, to support customers for studying and working from home, T-Mobile has given unlimited data to all customers for a period of 60 days. The company is also working to soon provide an additional 20GB data for Mobile Hotspot or tethering services.
T-Mobile also announced that they are working with their Lifeline partners to provide an extra 5GB data free per month for the next 60 days.
The company has confirmed that their EmpowerED digital learning programs for schools will also be upgraded for this 60 day period.
The T-Mobile EmpowerEd program gives free data allowance to schools & students. Each participant in the EmpowerEd program will have access to 20GB of data per month over this 60 day period.
T-Mobile has also announced free international calling for all customers to Level 3 coronavirus impacted countries. Consumers on T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile plans can now call Europe, China, Iran and South Korea for free.
T-Mobile signs up for the FCC Keep America Connected Pledge.
Earlier this week, T-Mobile had signed up to FCC’s Keep America Connected Pledge. The FCC has launched the Keep America Connected Pledge to help everyone stay connected during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The major US carriers viz. AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile have signed the FCC Keep America Connected Pledge. They were joined by broadband providers like Google Fiber, Comcast, Cox and CenturyLink.
These companies have pledged that they will not terminate services for customers who are unable to pay their bills for the next 60 days. The pledge ensures that home customers and small businesses do not lose internet access and connectivity during this trying time.
