Galaxy M31 Launched In The UK With 64MP Quad-Camera, 6,000mAh Battery

Samsung las launched the Galaxy M31, its newest M series phone, in the UK. The handset is now available to pre-order exclusively from Amazon UK for a price of £245. The retail giant will start shipping the device on June 1, 2020. It comes in Black, Blue, and Red color options in the UK.

The successor to last year’s hugely popular Galaxy M30s, the Galaxy M31 was initially launched in India early last month. Samsung’s M series has been all about big specs at a not-so-big price and the Galaxy M31 serves up to the purpose quite efficiently.

At £245, this device has a lot to offer, including a 64-megapixel quad-camera setup, a massive 6,000mAh battery, and an excellent super AMOLED display.

Samsung Galaxy M31 specifications

The Galaxy M31 features a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with Full HD+ (2340 x 1080) resolution. It looks identical to its predecessor and features a similar plastic-made frame.

Under the hood of this phone is an Exynos 9611 octa-core processor, the same as the Galaxy M30s. It gets 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 64GB UFS 2.1 storage, expandable up to 512GB via a microSD card. Samsung isn’t launching the 128GB variant of the Galaxy M31 in the UK.

The quad-camera setup on the back features a 64-megapixel primary sensor with F1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with a 123-degree field of view, a 5-megapixel macro camera, and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. The rectangular camera bump on the top left corner also houses an LED flash. There’s also a capacitive fingerprint reader on the back.

The tiny U-shaped notch on the front hides a 32-megapixel camera. The Galaxy M31 is capable of recording 4K 30fps videos through both front and rear cameras. It also supports hyperlapse, slow-mo, and super-steady camera modes.

There’s also a dedicated Night Mode for low-light photography. The Galaxy M31 is the first M series phone to get the Night More. AR Emoji, Bixby Vision, Live Focus, and Slow Motion are part of the package too.

Unfortunately, the Galaxy M31 appears to be shipping with Android 9 Pie in the UK, at least the Amazon UK listing suggests so. Elsewhere, the device runs Android 10 with One UI Core 2.0 out of the box. It should eventually get the Android 10 update in the UK too.

With Android 10, the phone gets features like Google’s UI navigation gestures and enhanced dark mode but misses out on some others, such as the screen recorder and Bixby. There’s no Samsung Pay either on this phone.

A mentioned earlier, a massive 6,000mAh battery fuels the Galaxy M31. It charges via a USB Type-C port and supports 15W fast charging. There’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack on this phone but headphones don’t come as a part of the package. You’ll have to buy it separately if you don’t already own one.

This phone has Widevine L1 certification and Dolby Atmos audio. It is 8.9mm thick and weighs 191 grams. Other miscellaneous features include LTE, GPS, dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and FM Radio.
