Buyers in the US can now pick up the Moto G Power and Moto G Stylus, each priced at under $300 from Amazon. The devices, launched in mid-February, are the latest addition to the Lenovo-owned brand’s mid-range offerings. Each delivers a differing focal point for consumers, as the branding implied.
The Moto G Power is a device intended for users who need a bit more battery power. That’s at the expense of camera hardware and storage space. But buyers can pick up the handset in Smoke Black for just $249.99. Conversely, the Moto G Stylus packs in better components on those front in a blue-tinted Mystic Indigo for just $299.99.
As for carriers, the listings note that the phones will each work with Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Boost, Cricket, and Metro.
What do the Moto G Stylus and Power bring to the table?
As hinted at above, both of these Moto-branded handsets are going to effectively deliver the same core specifications. But there are a few differences worth noting and reflected in the pricing.
The Moto G Power will be the more budget-friendly of the two. That’s chiefly down to the camera components in use, storage, and battery size. The Moto G Stylus packs in a 48-megapixel primary snapper and an 18-megapixel wide-angle snapper. But the Moto G Power comes with a more wallet-savvy 16-megapixel primary lens and an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera.
Both handsets pack a 2-megapixel macro lens at the back as well, completing the three-camera array, complete with a Time of Flight sensor for better depth and focus. Around the front of the gadget, buried in a punch-hole display, each packs a 6-megapixel selfie shooter.
For battery, the Moto G Power delivers 1000mAh more than its counterpart at 5000mAh total capacity. That should enable it to last significantly longer in day-to-day use, aided by 10W fast charging. That comes at the expense of storage, rated at just 64GB compared to the Moto G Stylus at 128GB.
That’s essentially where the differences end, however. Each of the two devices features a 6.4-inch Full HD+ Max Vision display panel. Stereo Dolby-tuned speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack round out the external package.
Behind the splash-resistant build, 4GB RAM help drive Android on an octa-core Snapdragon 665 SoC, clocked at 2.0GHz. Gameplay on that chipset is assisted further by a new Moto Gametime feature meant to tighten things up and stop interruptions. Both phones should play the best available apps and games with no issues.
The final perk, available only to buyers of the Moto G Stylus is a handy frame-docked stylus for taking notes, art, or more.
Where else can these smartphones be purchased?
Now, the company has indicated that the Moto G Power will also be available starting today at Verizon, U.S. Cellular, Consumer Cellular, Google Fi, Republic Wireless, and Xfinity Mobile. The handset will be sold outside of Amazon at Best Buy, B&H Photo, and Walmart.
For the Moto G Stylus, the company says it is selling the device at the same retailers. Service providers, including Verizon, Metro by T-Mobile, Google Fi, Republic Wireless, and Ting, will carry the pricier handset too.
Pricing will remain the same at each retailer and carrier.
