OnePlus’ new flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 8 Pro, features the Nokia OZO microphone tech. This has been announced by the company, via an official press release.
Nokia specifically mentions the OnePlus 8 Pro, which means that the OnePlus 8 does not include Nokia OZO microphones. That is yet another difference between these two smartphones. For more details, check out our comparison.
Nokia says that OZO microphone tech brings “market-leading technology” to the OnePlus 8 Pro
Nokia says that this is a “market-leading technology” and that it “enables users to capture spatial sound with vibrant accuracy and precision”.
The company notes that the OnePlus 8 Pro features three OZO Audio features for capturing “true-to-life audio in the highest quality in videos”. Those three features are: Audio 3D, Audio Zoom, and Audio Windscreen.
Audio 3D enables you to capture natural, spacial sound recordings. Audio Windscreen, on the other hand, reduces wind distortion, dramatically, says the company.
The Audio Zoom is linked to the visual zoom of the smartphone’s camera. You can essentially identify and amplify sounds to correspond with zoom and magnified video.
OnePlus has set out to create a top-of-the-line smartphone this year, with very few compromises, and Nokia OZO tech is a part of that. We’re still not sure what the company used in the regular model, though.
The two devices looks really similar
The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are quite similar in terms of the design. They do differ in terms of size, and the camera setup on the back. But that’s pretty much it.
There are more differences on the inside, though. The OnePlus 8 Pro is the only one that supports IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, and 30W wireless charging.
The ‘Pro’ model also comes with faster RAM, LPDDR5 vs LPDDR4X, and it also sports a better camera setup on the back. The ‘Pro’ model uses the OnePlus 8’s main camera sensor as its secondary sensor. For its main sensor, it adopts Sony’s IMX689 unit.
Both devices are fueled by the Snapdragon 865 SoC, though. Both also include the Snapdragon X55 modem for 5G connectivity. Those two components are to blame, for the most part, for such a huge price bump.
The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are currently available for pre-order. The price tags for these two devices start at $699 and $899 in the US, respectively. They are more expensive in Europe.
