One of the new perks of the OnePlus 8 Series is the fact that buyers will get three months of Google One Storage for free. And this is the 100GB option that is normally $1.99 per month.
But OnePlus did not leave out its current users. Offering current OnePlus owners a month of Google One for free. It’s not quite as good as the three months that OnePlus 8 buyers are getting, but still not too shabby.
What Is Google One?
Google One is a somewhat new service, but it is basically your storage for all of your Google data. The storage is used for Gmail, Drive and Google Photos. Which makes the storage very useful.
You get 15GB for free, and you can upgrade to 100GB for $1.99/month, 200GB for $2.99/month and so on up to 30TB. The prices are actually really cheap. Compared to other services like Dropbox.
Google One does have a few other bonuses too, like access to customer service, special discounts, and much more. Right now you can save 40% on hotel rooms through Google One. But it has also provided a free rental from Google Play Movies & TV in the past too. So they do change things up from time to time.
Getting 100GB of storage out of the box with your new OnePlus 8 smartphone is definitely a good move by OnePlus. It’s going to give you more space to upload photos to Google Photos at full resolution and plenty of room for email too.
When can I buy the OnePlus 8 Series?
The OnePlus 8 Series goes on sale starting on April 29 in the US. While pre-orders start on April 21 in Europe.
OnePlus 8 starts at $699 with the OnePlus 8 Pro starting at $899. These aren’t the same inexpensive flagship killing smartphones that OnePlus first announced a few years ago. It’s hard to imagine, but the OnePlus One started at $299. And now here we are $400 later.
Both devices boast some of the best specs you can imagine. This includes a Snapdragon 865, at least 8GB of RAM and at least 128GB of storage. There is also a quad-camera setup, along with a larger battery and of course 120Hz displays. The OnePlus 8 Pro also has wireless charging this year, at 30W. Which is fairly impressive, as most other phones top off at about 10W. Which is much slower.
OnePlus literally threw everything into the 8 Pro this year, and has made it a pretty good option, even at $899. Most people would buy it over the $1400 Galaxy S20 Ultra.
