You Can Now Transfer Files From Your Samsung Smartphone To Your Windows 10 PC

Microsoft announced today that Samsung Galaxy phone owners will be able to transfer files over to their Windows 10 PC now, thanks to an update to the Link To Windows app.

This can be a really useful feature, especially those that are working from home right now.

To be able to use this feature, you are going to need to have a Samsung Galaxy smartphone or tablet running Link to Windows v1.5 or higher.

It’s also worth noting that the feature does support all file types, you will only be able to transfer up to 100 files at a time. No single file can be larger than 512MB in size either.

How do I transfer files from the smartphone to my PC?

If you’re looking to drag files from the My Files app, you’re going to need to open the phone screen on the Your Phone app and navigate to a folder in My Files. Next, long-press on the desired file until a checkmark appears. Now you will need to long-press again on the selected files using your mouse. After the thumbnail appears, you can drag the files to the desired location on your PC.

You can also bring photos over to your PC by doing essentially the same method. But you will need to do it in the gallery app. And it’s also worth noting that you won’t be able to copy entire albums at once. You will need to select every photo in the gallery first.

Now, you also have the ability to bring files from your Windows 10 PC over to your Galaxy smartphone as well. And it’s fairly simple. First, you’ll need to open the Phone screen in the Your Phone app. Then select the file you want to transfer, using your mouse, and drag it over to the Your Phone app window. The cursor will then change to say Copy, once that happens, you can release the mouse to start the transfer.

Once the transfers are complete, you can tap on the notification on your phone to view the files. You can also simply navigate to the Download Folder within your favorite file manager too.

This is another update to the Your Phone and Link to Windows apps from Microsoft and Samsung that make your smartphone a lot more useful, specifically if you have a Windows 10 PC. And it’s coming at a great time, with many of us working from home now, making it easier to move files around.
