Google announced the Pixel Buds late last year, and said they’ll be available to buy in the Spring. Well, today, they are officially available for purchase.
The Google Pixel Buds are the company’s first venture into truly wireless earbuds. And they are pretty impressive.
These Pixel Buds are going to be priced at $179, making them rather pricey for a pair of truly wireless earbuds. And currently they are only available in Clearly White. But they will be available in Almost Black, Quite Mint, and Oh So Orange in the coming months.
The Pixel Buds aren’t new, but this is the first truly wireless headphones from Google
Google made a version of Pixel Buds before that were just wireless. Now, we have a pair of truly wireless headphones available. That will work great with your Pixel smartphone, or really any device, since they do use Bluetooth for connectivity.
The Pixel Buds are really good for staying in place, and are very comfortable to wear for hours on end. Battery life is somewhat decent here, at five hours of continuous playback. Though it’s not the best, for a pair of truly wireless earbuds. With the included carrying case, you can get about 19 hours total, though.
Now perhaps the reason why the battery life isn’t that great, is because of the ability to use Google Assistant, and provide real-time translation in over 40 languages.
Google also uses the Adaptive Sound tool in the Pixel Buds, that allow the earbuds to automatically adjust the volume when you enter a noisy area.
And of course, the noise isolation is pretty good here. This is not active noise cancellation at all, but still pretty good.
The app for the Google Pixel Buds also went live in the Play Store earlier today, and it is pre-installed on all Pixel phones.
Pixel Buds are available starting today
You can buy the Pixel Buds starting today from the Google Store and Best Buy. They will be coming to other retailers in the coming weeks and months. Including the carriers, as well as Walmart and Target.
The Pixel Buds are one of the more expensive pairs of truly wireless earbuds out there. But if they do deliver on all the promises that Google made last year when they were announced, then they are likely going to be worth the price. Though we’re going to have to wait and see if they do.
