Samsung is rolling out a second One UI 2.1 update for the Galaxy Fold in the US. The new update brings the remaining One UI 2.1 features that were not included in the first update that rolled out last month.
The latest update is rolling out over the air (OTA) with firmware version F900U1UEU3BTDD for the US Galaxy Fold units. It also packs the May 2020 Android security patch, which contains fixes for some critical One UI vulnerabilities.
The OTA file size of this update weighs in at 1085.78 MB. Make sure to connect your phone to a stable Wi-Fi network before downloading the update.
One UI 2.1 update for the Samsung Galaxy Fold
One UI 2.1 is the latest iteration of Samsung’s custom Android skin. The new software first arrived with the Galaxy S20 and the Galaxy Z Flip phones. Samsung has since rolled out One UI 2.1 updates for its older flagships as well, including the Galaxy Fold.
The first One UI 2.1 update for the Galaxy Fold brought features like an improved Night mode, Quick Crop, Quick Share, and Music Share, as well as other Android 10 features such as built-in screen recorder and revamped gesture navigation.
Samsung is now rolling out a second update that brings the remaining One UI 2.1 features to its folding phone. Firstly, this update brings a new AR Emoji version that introduces a manual editing feature.
It also brings some enhancements to the facial expression recognition abilities of the AR Emoji app. The changelog mentions that all previously saved AR emojis will be deleted when you first open the AR Emoji app after installing the update.
A host of new camera features are also making their way into the Galaxy Fold with this update. One UI 2.1-exclusive features like Single Take, Pro video mode, Selfie tone, My Filters, Night timelapse, and AR Zone are now available on the Samsung foldable as well.
This update also brings the ability to record FHD/UHD videos in 60 fps (frames per second) with the front camera.
As always, software updates are released in batches and may not be available for all eligible units at once.
This update for the Galaxy Fold has only just started rolling out. It may take a few days for it to reach all units across the country.
