According to a new piece of information that leaked, the Samsung Galaxy S21 may actually feature both 150MP and 64MP camera sensors. That is not the only camera-related information that surfaced, though.
This information comes from SamMobile, as it seems like the site managed to get some early Galaxy S21 information. The source claims that none of this info has been confirmed, but Samsung is considering those components.
Samsung is looking to improve its cameras with the Galaxy S21, and remove some sore points of the Galaxy S20 series. The company will allegedly drop the laser autofocus with the Galaxy S21 series.
Galaxy S21 may include 150MP & 64MP camera sensors, five rear cameras overall
Now, in addition to the 150MP and 64MP camera sensors, the Galaxy S21 is also rumored to include 16 and 12-megapixel cameras. A 150-megapixel camera is rumored to be the phone’s main camera.
The 64-megapixel sensor will be a dedicated telephoto camera, while a 16-megapixel unit will be an ultrawide shooter. A 12-megapixel camera will be included to handle macro shots.
The source claims that a ToF camera is also listed as part of the Galaxy S21 setup. Samsung allegedly won’t include such a camera in the Galaxy Note 20, though, so that’s a bit odd.
SamMobile claims that two versions of this Galaxy S21 model are being tested, one with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) on the main and telephoto sensors, in addition to the selfie camera.
The other model has OIS for the main, telephoto, and wide-angle cameras. We do hope that the company will settle on the second model, as OIS supposed to be included across the board.
If a macro camera ends up being included in the Galaxy S21, it will be the first Samsung flagship to include it. Presuming that the Galaxy Note 20 won’t include such a camera in the future, of course.
Macro cameras have been exclusive to the Galaxy A series thus far
Samsung did include macro cameras on its phones, but they’ve been limited to the Galaxy A series of devices. Well, that will be changed, it seems. Macro photography has become quite popular, and more and more companies are boarding that train.
The OnePlus 8 includes a dedicated macro camera, even though it’s not particularly good. The OnePlus 8 Pro takes amazing macro shots, even without a dedicated camera. So, there you go.
This 12-megapixel macro camera on the Galaxy S21 packs in a much larger sensor, with much more megapixels than the one on the OnePlus 8, though. So, we have high hopes for that camera, that’s for sure… if it ends up being included. The Galaxy S21 is expected to arrive in Q1 2021.
