According to Ross Young, the CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), the Huawei Mate 40 will feature a 120Hz display. You’ve probably heard of Ross Young already, as we’ve mentioned him several times.
The Huawei Mate 40 will include a 120Hz display, analyst claims
He’s a display analyst who gets display-related information quite early. He was the first one who shared the Galaxy Fold 2 information not long ago. Well, in his newest tweet, he basically confirmed that the Huawei Mate 40 will include a display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
Mr. Young shared a list of 2020 smartphones which include or will include 120Hz displays The OnePlus 8 Pro is there, as is the OPPO Find X2 Pro, for example. Both of those devices got announced already.
A number of unannounced models also made the list, though. Phone such as the Apple iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max, Galaxy Fold 2, and Galaxy Note 20+ / Ultra.
Well, one of the devices is also the Mate 40. Now, to be clear, it’s possible that only the Mate 40 Pro will include a 120Hz display. That seems like something Huawei would do.
In any case, the Huawei Mate 40 series is expected to land in Q4 this year, but we still don’t know when exactly. The Huawei Mate 30 series arrive in September, but the Mate 40 series will probably be a bit late.
That’s just a guess based on the current situation in the world, everyone’s plans got moved a little bit because of it. It’s still possible Huawei will deliver in September, we’ll see.
We don’t have much information about the Huawei Mate 40 at this point. A rumor did surface recently, backing our claims that the phone will be released a bit later this time around.
The US sanctions may delay the release of the Huawei Mate 40
That rumor suggested that the Mate 40 series will be late because of the US sanctions. That is another factor worth considering, of course. The latest batch of sanctions jeopardized the company’s processor business as well.
It seems like the Kirin 1000 / 1020 won’t be affected by it. Well, at least a recent report says it’s not. So, technically, that should not be a problem for the Huawei Mate 40 series.
There are other things to consider, though, of course. As things stand at the moment, the Huawei Mate 40 series will also ship without Google services / applications.
We’ll have to wait a bit longer to see what exactly will happen, though. As things stand at the moment, however, at least one of the upcoming Mate 40 handsets will include a 120Hz display. If it does, it will become the very first smartphone from the company to do so.
