First Press Image Leaks To Confirm 'OnePlus Nord' Name

OnePlus’ upcoming smartphone will be called the ‘OnePlus Nord’, if a leaked press image is to be believed. This image was shared by a blogger, Nils Ahrensmeier, on Twitter

As you can see in the provided image below, the company’s “New Beginnings” caption is included here. OnePlus has been using this hashtag to tease its upcoming mid-range smartphone.

On top of that, a cyan color is used here, the same as the one that OnePlus used for its recent teaser. The company posted a cyan OnePlus logo via social media, hyping up the arrival of its mid-range handset.

‘OnePlus Nord’ name has been seemingly confirmed via the leaked press image

Now, the last piece of the puzzle on this image is the name of the device. You can see a part of the word ‘Nord’ in it, the last three letters are partially visible. Well, the letter ‘R’ can be clearly seen in the image.

Do note that this is still not official information, of course. It is possible that this leak is not accurate, so take it with a grain of salt. OnePlus’ mid-range smartphone has changed names several times thus far.

The device was first rumored to be called the ‘OnePlus 8 Lite’. Following that, the ‘OnePlus Z’ name popped up. The last name that is being mentioned is the ‘OnePlus Nord’ aka ‘Nord by OnePlus’.

OnePlus confirmed yesterday that “a new OnePlus smartphone series” is coming. In that forum post, it was confirmed that this will be a more affordable smartphone series.

OnePlus also mentioned that the first product from this lineup will make its way to India and Europe first. That was to be expected. OnePlus also confirmed that the team behind the project will be spearheaded by Paul Yu, an experienced OnePlus exec.

The device will offer thin bezels, a 90Hz display, and the Snapdragon 765G SoC

The OnePlus Nord will probably be made out of metal and glass. It will ship with four cameras on the back, and a centered display camera hole on the front.

The device will offer thin bezels, and a flat display. That will be a fullHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate, though we’re still not sure how large will it be.

Android 10 will come pre-installed on the phone, along with OnePlus’ OxygenOS. The phone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 765G 64-bit octa-core SoC, and it will support 5G.

The OnePlus Nord will become official next month. July 10 is being rumored as the launch date, and that may as well be accurate, but we’ll have to wait and see.
