Verizon is launching a new student discount, giving students up to $25 off of their monthly bill and get Disney+ and Apple Music for free.
That’s a pretty good discount for students, especially since students are normally broke from working part time and going to school full time. Not to mention the free Disney+ and Apple Music is a nice perk as well.
How does this new student discount work?
Starting on July 2, college students are going to be able to save $10 per month on single-line accounts or $25 per month on 2-line accounts. Students will need to be on a Mix & Match Unlimited plan to get this discount. What that means is that you’re back on the unlimited plan and not on a grandfathered plan. These plans include the Start, Play More, Do More and Get More unlimited.
Undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students are available. Unfortunately, those in high school are not eligible, but you likely aren’t paying your bill if you’re in high school anyways.
The free Disney+ is only valid for a year. Which is essentially the same promo Verizon offered when Disney+ launched last year. Apple Music is also free for a limited time. You’ll be able to claim both of these through the Verizon app on your smartphone.
While it’s unfortunate the Disney+ and Apple Music are not free for the length of the student discount, it’s still good to get it for free for a bit. Of course, the monthly discount is a much bigger deal.
It works with 5G too
It’s no surprise that this works with 5G as well. Seeing as that is what Verizon wants everyone using now. So if you did buy a 5G smartphone like the OnePlus 8 5G UW or the Galaxy S20, you can still get this discount.
With plans starting at $70 for a single line, getting that $10 off does make a bit of a difference. As that will also drop the taxes that are charged too – just a little bit. Don’t forget that you also need to pay for your own phone on top of this. If you get an unlocked phone or buy it outright, then you’ll just be paying the $60/month. But if you finance it, that is going to be added to the $60/month and can quickly get towards $100.
You’ll be able to sign up for this discount starting on July 2, at this link. It is good to see Verizon starting to offer a student discount though.
