OnePlus has more or less confirmed that its TWS earbuds will launch alongside the ‘Nord’ smartphone. The company went to Twitter with a rather revealing tweet.

In it, the company included an image of its earphones, various generations of them. Above the picture, there’s the following caption: “What’s next in line?”, and that clearly points towards next-gen earphones.
OnePlus will announce its first TWS earbuds on May 21
This tweet comes at a very interesting time as well. The company announced that the OnePlus Nord will launch on July 21. Every rumor thus far claimed that the OnePlus Buds / Pods will launch alongside it. On top of that, OnePlus just teased their arrival as well.
At this point, it seems to be set in stone, pretty much, OnePlus will launch its TWS earbuds alongside the OnePlus Nord. We’re still not sure if they’ll be called ‘OnePlus Buds’ or ‘OnePlus Pods’, though.
A well-known tipster, Max J, claimed that they’ll be called ‘OnePlus Buds’. The ‘OnePlus Pods’ name surfaced in Android 11 Beta for the OnePlus 8 series, though.
So… it’s anyone’s guess at this point. The OnePlus Pods name could just be a placeholder or something, On the other hand, it may be the final name of OnePlus’ TWS earbuds, we’ll see.
In any case, the company released a couple of pairs of wireless Bluetooth earphones, but never TWS ones. This will be the very first pair of TWS earbuds that the company will launch.
Those earbuds did leak on several occasions, though. The two best leaks showed the earbuds in white and black colors. So, they’ll be arriving in at least two color variants.
These earbuds will ship with a rather compact charging case, based on the leaks. The earbuds themselves will be inspired by the Apple AirPods, it seems, though the stem will be a bit shorter than on the AirPods 1 and 2, longer than on the AirPods Pro.
The charging case will have an LED indicator on both the inside and the outside. Those two will signalize the battery status of the charging case and earbuds themselves, respectively.
The charging case will hopefully support wireless charging
We’re hoping that the charging case will support wireless charging. When it comes to earbuds themselves, chances are they’ll charge via a physical connection with the case, but we’ll see.
These earbuds will probably offer ANC (Active Noise Cancelling). Touch controls will hopefully be included on the earbuds themselves, though such info did not leak yet.
We’re hoping that OnePlus will be able to offer compelling audio experience with OnePlus Buds / Pods. Their other wireless earphones are pretty good in that regard, and battery life as well, so we’re hoping that the same will translate to this product as well.
