OnePlus Nord Confirmed To Feature An AMOLED Display

The OnePlus Nord will feature an AMOLED display. This has been confirmed by the Vice President of OnePlus, France, Akis Evangelidis. He confirmed the information via Twitter.

Mr. Evangelidis actually shared a meme in order to confirm the news. As you can see in the tweet attached below, that meme is quite straightforward, it can’t get more clear than that.

Akis Evangelidis did not share the details, though. He made a joke that OnePlus should reveal the Nord through memes only. That would surely be fun, though it probably won’t happen, even though the ‘Nord’ is being released to appeal to younger generations, it seems.

The OnePlus Nord will feature an AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate

In any case, Mr. Evangelidis only mentioned that it’s an AMOLED display. We still can’t say for sure what resolution to expect, but we can make a pretty good guess.

The OnePlus Nord will, almost certainly feature a fullHD+ display. That display will offer 90Hz refresh rate, by the way. OnePlus promised that it won’t resort to 60Hz panels anymore, and 120Hz would be an overkill for a mid-range handset.

If the company ends up sticking to a 20:9 aspect ratio, this phone will ship with a 2400 x 1080p panel, just like the OnePlus 8. In fact, it could also feature a 6.55-inch panel like the OnePlus 8, but flat.

OnePlus may go with a different size display for this phone, though, we’ll see. We do expect Gorilla Glass 5 to be included on top of it, and the display will be marketed as ‘Fluid AMOLED’.

The OnePlus Nord will become official on July 21. The company confirmed that quite recently. The phone will be announced during an AR online-only event.

The OnePlus Buds / Pods will launch alongside this smartphone

Along with the OnePlus Nord, the company will probably announce its first pair of TWS earphones. Those earphones will be called ‘OnePlus Buds’ or ‘OnePlus Pods’, both names leaked.

The OnePlus Nord will be fueled by the Snapdragon 765G, that has also been confirmed. That means that it will support 5G connectivity. Android 10 will come pre-installed on the phone, along with OxygenOS.

A large battery will be thrown in the package as well, along with 30W fast wired charging, most probably. We’re not expecting wireless charging, nor water and dust resistance here.

Four cameras will be placed on the back of this smartphone, while two will be included on the phone’s front side. Those two cameras will be included in the form of a pill-shaped display hole.
