OPPO's 125W Charging Is Not A Dream, It's Coming On July 15

OPPO’s insanely fast 125W charging will become official on July 15. The company has just teased that announcement on Twitter, clearly suggesting we’re looking at 125W fast charging.

OPPO basically release a video teaser of this charging, moving from 65W to 125W in it. At the end of the video, the July 15 date was shared. The company used the ‘FlashForward’ hashtag in this post.

OPPO’s 125W fast charging should be able to fully charge a 4,000mAh battery in about 10 minutes

Ice Universe, a well-known tipster, claims that OPPO’s 125W fast charging will be able to charge a 4,000mAh battery from 0 to 100-percent in only 10 minutes.

Do note that is an estimated value on his part, but it’s probably quite accurate. So you can basically plug in your phone if it’s dead, go take a shower, get back, and it’ll be on 100-percent.

It is worth noting that Realme is expected to announce something similar this month. A well-known tipster recently claims that the company will announce 100W+ charging later this month.

A ‘SuperDART’ charger will be needed for that charging to take place. The tipster also said that Realme’s charging will charge up one-third of a 4,000mAh battery in three minutes.

Do note that Realme is technically owned by OPPO. So, the company is using OPPO’s technology in a way, so it’s possible this charging will be based on similar tech… or even identical.

Xiaomi is expected to deliver 100W fast charging as well

OPPO and Realme are not the only two companies expected to announce 100W charging, though. Xiaomi has been developing such tech for a while as well, and has even demoed it earlier this year.

The company’s 100W charging was able to recharge a 4,000mAh battery from 0 to 100-percent in just 17 minutes. Xiaomi did say that the tech is not yet ready, though, but we’re expecting it to arrive by the end of 2020.

We’re really wondering how will such charging affect battery life, though. In other words, will it damage the battery considerably more than 40W charging, for example.

We do hope that OPPO, Realme, and Xiaomi found a way to counter this. Such fast charging is really nice to have, as you never need to leave your phone on a charger overnight. But… if it will reduce the battery lifecycle by a significant margin, it’s probably not worth it.

OPPO will share more information in only a couple of days, so we’ll hopefully get all the necessary information soon.
