Polar Unite Fitness Smartwatch Launched With No GPS

Finland-based Polar has launched several wearables products targetting the athletes. The company now launched a new fitness smartwatch called Polar Unite. It comes with an affordable price tag of $149.95 and provides everything beginners need for tracking their fitness routines.

With the COVID-19 pandemic and stay at home orders, it’s the best time for Polar to launch its most affordable fitness smartwatch. In terms of design, it looks similar to the Polar Ignite, which costs $50 more.

Polar Unite is the company’s most affordable fitness smartwatch

Even the major features remain the same on both these wearables. However, the Polar Unite misses out the built-in GPS.

Instead, the Unite comes with the “Connected GPS” feature for tracking speed, distance, and route. It supports continuous heart rate monitoring and tracking of over 100 sports.

It also comes loaded with FitSpark which offers personalized workouts based on the user’s fitness activity. The unique Serene breathing exercise mode offers guided breathing exercises. Additionally, it includes a few other features like timer & stopwatch but lacks the music feature.

Apart from the touchscreen display, it also comes with a single button for navigation through the UI. The 1.22-inch LCD display comes with 240 by 204 pixels resolution and looks vibrant. Just like most other affordable smartwatches, this also lacks the always-on display support.

The battery lasts up to 4 days on a single charge

The company is using a proprietary USB charging adapter for both charging and data synchronization.

Despite its minimalistic look and easy to carry design, it is anything but fragile. Unfortunately, it’s the same situation with many other wearable brands. It comes with a standard 20 mm silicone wristband.

Apart from the silicone bands in various colors, Polar will also sell the textile and leather bands for $34.95 each. The Unite also comes with several watch faces with multiple options and in different colors.

The 174mAh Li-pol battery on the Polar Unite is rated to last up to 4 days in watch mode with continuous heart rate tracking.

In comparison, the Polar Ignite comes with a slightly smaller battery but lasts an additional day in watch mode. It is also waterproof up to 30 meters and can be worn even while swimming.

When connected with the smartphone, the Polar Unite also shows notifications for incoming calls, messages, and more. At 32 grams, it’s also one of the lightest smartwatches available in the market. The new Polar Unite competes with the similarly priced Fitbit Charge 4 and Apple Watch Series 3.
