In a recent development, Google has now introduced new US English assistant voices for Actions. Notably, a new Female 3 and Male 3 US English voices have been added by Google. Developers use this new dialect as they are the highest quality option available. Previously in June, Google introduced seven new Assistant voices.
These new voices were introduced for five international languages including Chinese (Traditional), English, Hindi, Italian, and Indonesian. A Male 2 and Female 2 option was added. But now for the US English voices, a new Male 3 and Female 3 dialect has been introduced.
As per the official Google’s developer website, all the voices, i.e. Male 1, Female 1, Male 2, and Female 2 voice options for en-US are comparable. Meaning that a comparatively higher quality version of the Male and Female US voices is available. Google Actions is developed on the Wavenet platform that is developed in order to create a more natural experience. This allows the Voice Assistant to trigger notifications for commands that you would frequently make on a specific time.
In some cases, Google Assistant Actions voices will differ for the end-users
Well, the introduction of new voices for Assistant Actions is done to improve the end user’s experience. Because the new high-quality voices provide a more realistic experience while interacting with Google Voice Assistant. Moreover, users would find Assistant voices to differ in certain cases because of the voice that you have chosen for general Google Assistant. Apparently, users who would include more Assistant Actions in their routine, will find and hear new voices more frequently.
However, another important thing to note is that now that new US English voices are available, it totally depends on the developers to implement them. So, we might see these new voices immediately on apps, if the developers choose to. Moreover, there is no confirmation as to when and which of the Actions will make use of these newly introduced US English voices. As per the official Google developer website, Google automatically updates the voice with the new version of voice for the language used in the project.
This means that the projects that are using the US English voices Male 2, Female 2, would be replaced with Male 3 and Female 3 due to their higher quality. There are many languages, for which only a single dialect, one for male and another for female is available. We can expect that more dialects would be added in the future for more languages.
