Google has now officially made the download links for the Google Pixel 4a May and August patch images available. Notably, both the OTA and factory images are now live.
Earlier this month, Google refreshed its mid-range lineup with the Pixel 4a. And boy, it was received well by the critics. Though there is nothing exceptional in terms of design, Pixel’s specialty the ‘camera’ has done the job once again.
No, we are not saying that the Google Pixel 4a does not pack the specs to get on with everyday tasks. In fact, the device has a decent spec sheet.
You get a 5.81-inch OLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM, 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage, a 3140mAh battery, a 3.5mm audio jack, and the excellent camera as well.
All this package for a price of $349, which is another department where Google has hit the right target. And now, the availability of factory and OTA files will be beneficial for those who are interested in developing custom ROM, flashing back to stock ROM, etc.
A total of four OTA and factory images has been released for Google Pixel 4a
Notably, a total of four images have been released for the Pixel 4a. Images provided are available for Verizon, Japanese carriers and unlocked units.
These images contain the May and August security patches. The May patch has version number QD4A.200317.024.A1 for JP carriers and Verizon, and QD4A.200317.027 for unlocked units.
Besides, the August patch carries version number QD4A.200805.001 for JP carriers and Verizon and QD4A.200805.003 for Pixel 4a unlocked units.
These builds are based on Android 10 OS. However, the Android 11 Beta 3 update for the Pixel 4a recently went live. Meaning that now you can enjoy the latest features of Android 11 before the stable release on your Pixel 4a.

May patch hints that Google was eyeing Pixel 4a release in May 2020
Moreover, a point to note is that there is no patch available between May and August, which is quite strange for a Pixel device. This hints that the phone was scheduled for a May release but got delayed.

Notably, Google has also updated the device tree for the Google Pixel 4a smartphone. Device tree is the building point on which developers build a custom kernel to boot TWRP or a custom ROM.
