Every high-end tablet that comes out now is immediately compared to the iPad Pro. Especially if it’s trying to be a desktop replacement. And now Lenovo is joining the fray.
Today, Lenovo debuted two new tablets: the Lenovo Tab P11 Pro and Tab M10 HD (2nd Gen). The latter is more of a kid-friendly tablet for the whole family, while the former is meant to be a laptop or even a desktop replacement.
Lenovo’s Tab P11 Pro is going after Chromebook users
With the Lenovo Tab P11 Pro sporting Android, it is definitely going after the Chromebooks out there, which Lenovo also makes.
The Tab P11 Pro is a 11.5-inch tablet with a 2560×1600 resolution OLED display. Powered by the Snapdragon 730G, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage (there’s a 6GB/128GB model too). There is also a micro SD card slot available for expanding storage. Packed inside is a 8400mAh capacity battery that should last you the full day.
Lenovo has also outfitted the Tab P11 Pro with a 8-megapixel camera. Which is at the top when the tablet is in landscape mode. This is the perfect place to put it, now that we are all doing more Zoom, Google Meet and other video calls. The backside does sport a 12-megapixel sensor and a 5-megapixel ultra-wide camera.
There is a Lenovo Keyboard Pack for the Tab P11 Pro, which is what really makes this a laptop replacement. But it will not be sold with the tablet, unfortunately. And we don’t have pricing yet.
The Lenovo Tab P11 Pro is going to be available starting in November for $499.
The Tab M10 HD (2nd Gen) is perfect for kids doing the virtual learning thing
Lenovo is marketing the Tab M10 HD (2nd Gen) as a family tablet, but it’s really made for kids.
With the Tab M10 HD (2nd Gen), Lenovo is hyping up Google Kids Space. This is designed to “nurture your kid’s curiosity and creativity, inspiring them to explore their interests through thoughtfully curated apps, books and videos.” Basically, this is Google’s version of Amazon Freetime. And parents can control what content their kids can use with Google FamilyLink.
The Lenovo Tab M10 HD (2nd Gen) is coming in three variants. There is the vanilla tablet, and then the Google Assistant model and an Amazon Alexa model. The Amazon Alexa model is not coming to the US. The regular model is going to be priced at $129 starting in September. With the Google Assistant version coming in October.
These new Lenovo tablets are shaping up to be pretty impressive devices, even at these almost rock bottom prices. Considering Samsung’s latest starts at $649.
