Motorola Razr (2020) 5G Live Images Show An Updated Design

Motorola is preparing to launch its second foldable smartphone, the Motorola Razr (2020) 5G later this year. A leak last week revealed what the device will look like. Now, we have more visuals showing the second-gen Razr in all its glory.

The folks over at MySmartPrice have spotted some live images of the Motorola Razr (2020) 5G on Chinese micro-blogging website Weibo. The new images give us a more detailed and closer look at the upcoming Motorola foldable.

Motorola Razr (2020) 5G leaks in live images

Although it’s not a direct successor to the original Razr foldable and just a 5G version of it, Motorola seems to have made some subtle changes to the design. Firstly, the thick chin at the bottom now looks slightly smaller and less protruding. There’s no physical button on it either.

This essentially means Motorola is either opting for an in-display fingerprint sensor or has embedded a capacitive fingerprint scanner into the power button. The company also tends to embed a physical scanner into the Moto batwing logo on the back of the device but that’s unlikely to happen here as the logo resides on the bottom half of the foldable phone.

Both the main display as well as the secondary display of the Moto Razr (2020) 5G appear to be larger when compared with the original Razr foldable. The main display, in particular, looks to be much wider than the one on its predecessor. However, it may also appear so because of the image being taken from a particular angle. We’ll have to wait for more visuals before we can say for sure if Motorola has made some changes to the display. The unique notch is still there, though.

Motorola also appears to have added a dual-camera setup on the back of the Moto Razr (2020) 5G. One of the camera sensors, presumably the main camera, and the LED flash are stacked horizontally inside the same housing. The second sensor is positioned to the left of that housing.

All these changes mean the Moto Razr (2020) 5G will be a significant upgrade over its predecessor. Or is it the Moto Razr 2 instead? We’ll have to wait and see.

Motorola may announce the phone next month

Motorola has yet to announce a launch date for the Moto Razr (2020) 5G. Reports are that the company may unveil the new foldable sometime next month, possibly at the IFA, which itself will most likely be a virtual affair if at all.

Powered by the Snapdragon 765G SoC, the device is likely to come with 256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM. That would be another boost from 128GB of storage and 6GB RAM inside the original Razr foldable. The new foldable is also expected to pack a bigger 2,845 mAh battery with 18W fast charging. A leak last month had revealed the device’s specifications.

As for pricing, Motorola would possibly be looking to undercut Samsung’s recently announced Galaxy Z Flip 5G. The new Samsung foldable is now up for pre-orders at $1,449.
