The OnePlus 8T is coming as planned, it seems, as its codename has just been revealed. Do note that this is not an official reveal of the phone’s codename, of course, but it comes from a reliable source.

A well-known tipster, Max J., revealed that the OnePlus 8T codename is ‘Kebab’. That is what the phone is called internally. Max J. is one of the most reliable sources of OnePlus information around, if not the most reliable one.
Therefore, I do believe this codename to be legit. This also confirms that the phone is coming. Now, chances are we’ll see at least two 8T-branded OnePlus smartphones this year.
OnePlus will likely announce both the OnePlus 8T and 8T Pro. The company has a habit of releasing two T-series devices, but we’ll see what will happen. The OnePlus 8T series is expected to arrive in Q4 this year.
The company’s T-series of phones is usually just an upgraded regular flagship series that launches mid-year. That may be the case this year as well, though OnePlus may yet surprise us.
The Snapdragon 865 Plus will fuel these two phones, almost certainly
The OnePlus 8T phones will be fueled by the Snapdragon 865 Plus SoC, almost certainly. OnePlus usually takes advantage of Qualcomm’s ‘Plus’ series flagship SoCs for its T-series devices.
Some rumors already suggested that the OnePlus 8T series may include an under-display camera, but that’s not as likely. The world’s first smartphone with an under-display camera will be the ZTE Axon 20 5G, and that phone is launching soon.
OnePlus usually waits until its sister companies (OPPO and Vivo) take advantage of such tech, before incorporating it in its phone. OnePlus may surprise us all and utilize such tech, but that’s not as likely.
The OnePlus 9 series, or the 9T series may ship with an under-display camera, though. The company is also expected to take advantage of 120W fast charging either with the OnePlus 8T, or the OnePlus 9 series.
The OnePlus 8T series is likely to resemble the OnePlus 8 series. That means we’ll get phones made out of metal and glass, with a display camera hole. They will probably offer curved displays, but we’ll see.
Proper OnePlus 8T leaks are supposed to start coming out in the near future. That’s when we’ll get a lot more information. At the moment, we can only guess.
