OnePlus May Launch Snapdragon 600 Series Handset Sooner Than You Think

OnePlus may launch its Snapdragon 600 series smartphone sooner than you think. Well, at least if the newest rumor is to be believed. This time around, it comes from ‘Chun’, a tipster you’ve probably heard of.

The OnePlus handset equipped with Snapdragon 600 series SoC coming soon

He claims that OnePlus is planning to launch its Snapdragon 600 series smartphone next month. To be a bit more precise, he did say at the end of September.

That handset will be made available in India, amongst other markets, and Chun says that it will cost around INR16-18,000. If we translate that to dollars, you’ll get a price tag between $213 and $240.

That smartphone will be fueled by either the Snapdragon 662 or 665 SoCs. Those are the two rumored chips, and the two chips that Chun mentioned in his tweet.

At this point, we’re not sure if this phone will make its way to the US, though. If we had to guess, though, we’d say it will. OnePlus did say that future budget phones will make their way to the US, unlike the OnePlus Nord.

In addition to talking about OnePlus’ mid-range handset, Chun also shared some information about OPPO’s upcoming phone. He said that OPPO is also planning to release a Snapdragon 662-powered phone, which will cost less than INR20,000 ($267) in India. That device is coming in early September, though.

Do note that OnePlus may release more than one Snapdragon 600 series smartphone next month. Also, it seems like the company is working on an entry-level smartphone as well.

The company is also planning to release a Snapdragon 460-powered phone, it seems

The company is rumored to release a smartphone fueled by the Snapdragon 460 at some point this year. Some proof regarding that surfaced earlier today.

If that ends up being true, that device will become the company’s first entry-level smartphone. It will also become the cheapest smartphone OnePlus ever announced, almost certainly.

OnePlus seems to be aiming to offer a smartphone in all price ranges. The upper-mid-range, flagship, and premium segments are covered. This Snapdragon 600 series phone is supposed to cover the mid-range sector, while the Snapdragon 460 phone will cover the entry-level sector.

We still do not know when will the Snapdragon 460-powered OnePlus handset arrive. If OnePlus is planning to release it, it will probably launch before the OnePlus 8T series.

That phone may even come at the same time as the Snapdragon 600 series smartphone, who knows. Whatever the case may be, this is the year OnePlus is breaking its release cycle, and releasing more phones than ever before.
