Sony has released a new PS5 trailer and it aims to bring gaming to life. More specifically Sony is focusing this trailer on some of the new features on offer.
With the PS5, Sony is selling a new level of immersion, and that’s what the new trailer evokes. It also carries a larger than life tone to it that really makes you want to jump in and play. Which is no doubt what Sony wants.
And while that’s all well and good, the trailer does lack important information that consumers are still waiting on. The price. The console is supposed to launch in time for the holidays this year. And yet, Sony hasn’t revealed the cost of the system yet.
Though, Microsoft has yet to reveal the cost of the Xbox Series X, so Sony is in good company in that regard.
Rather than reveal the cost, the new Sony PS5 trailer focuses on immersive features
A few of the bigger feature of the PS5 are the new haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of the DualSense controller. As well as the 3D sound support of the console.
Sony isn’t content with just letting you jump in and play any more. It wants you to feel more than ever like you’re actually in the game. The company’s attempt to get this across to consumers is through highlighting these features.
To amplify that message though, the trailer tells you that the console can help you “see with sound,” “feel more,” and “feel force with your fingertips” in the games you play.
These are references to the 3D sound, haptic feedback, and adaptive triggers.
How immersive will these features really be?
Assuming these features are as good as Sony is making them out to be, players should feel more like the sounds of every bullet, every arrow, every explosion, scream, and footstep are surrounding them.
Feeling force with your fingertips could be Sony’s way of describing that you could feel things like recoil from the triggers on the controller when shooting a gun.
While the controller’s haptic feedback might be perfectly timed to rumble in your hands at the precise moment there’s a booming or earth shattering event. Although the trailer doesn’t mention anything about cost, the price reveal could be soon.
Now that Sony is starting to release marketing trailers, it could be ramping up its efforts to sell the console. Perhaps Sony’s plan is to foster enough hype before unveiling the PS5’s cost later this year. And a good way to do that would be to really drive home how good those new features are.
