The developer of Tap, Tap Kieron Quinn, took to Reddit to announce that now the app also added the support for Tasker. This will help the users of Tap, Tap to trigger an event from the Tasker app. Android 11 brought some new and interesting features in the bag. Notably, the ‘double-tap on the back of your Pixel phone’ to trigger an action, was the one that caught everyone’s attention.
Google codenamed this new set of gestures as ‘Columbus.’ Well, at first it was expected to be a Pixel-exclusive feature. It allows users to double-tap on the back of the phone to launch apps like Google Assistant, Camera, control media playback, and much more.
Tap, Tap allowed the users to use the same double-tap feature on any Android phone. Although Android 11 DP2 added new actions like taking a screenshot and opening a recent app menu, third-party developers are way ahead. Tap, Tap is a similar app that brings a double-tap gesture to any Android phone running Android 7 or above. It uses the system’s Accessibility Service and boy it performs well. Notably, the developer used the same machine learning that Google used to recognize double taps on Pixel phones.
Apparently, Tap, Tap’s Quinn and Tasker developer João Dias have joined hands to bring the ability to use the rear double-tap feature to trigger an event in Tasker. Besides, this will now allow the users to trigger almost anything, since Tasker gives limitless options for automation. The cherry on top is that this offers even more customization options than Google itself.
The latest release of Tap, Tap allows triggering the Tasker functionality
For the unaware, Tasker brings automation to your phone, actually making it smart. Notably, you can make your phone automatically adjust the brightness of your phone at a specific time of the day. Not only this but you can also create certain tasks based on location, your Wi-Fi network, along with many other (130+) states and events.
And this almost endless customization options of Tasker comes to Tap, Tap. For those who want to trigger an event in Tasker using Tap, Tap, simply need to upgrade the Tap, Tap to the latest version available. You can grab the latest version of the app from here. Once you have installed the app, setup Tap, Tap on your mobile. Now set the action to trigger the Tasker plugin. Bam! You can now easily open any Tasker event now, by double-tapping the back of your phone.
This is really a cool and nice feature for any Android smartphone users because this goes even beyond Google’s controllability. Besides, it also sheds light on the open-source nature of Android, where third-party developers can actually bring worthy features for everyone. Let us know your thoughts about this collab.
