Samsung has already released the One UI 3.0 beta update for the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra smartphones at the beginning of this month. As expected earlier, the company is now expanding the One UI 3.0 beta program to the Galaxy Note 20 series.
It is now available for the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra users in the US, Germany, South Korea, India, Poland, and the UK. This new beta update carries the firmware version N986NKSU1ZTJH and is, obviously, based on the latest Android 11.
Galaxy Note 20 & Note 20 Ultra are now eligible for the One UI 3.0 beta update
In the US, only the unlocked Galaxy Note 20 devices and carrier-locked devices from Sprint and T-Mobile are eligible to join the beta program. Users need to join the beta program to receive the One UI 3.0 update.
If you have an eligible Galaxy Note 20 smartphones, head over to the Samsung Members app and tap on the “Registration for One UI Beta Program” banner on the home screen. The OTA update will show up on your device once you are part of the beta program.
The public release will likely happen before the end of this year
Since this is a beta update, it is not recommended to use it on your primary smartphone. Besides the tons of new features, the beta firmware also includes several known issues. While there is no official confirmation, the public release of the One UI 3.0 update for the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 series should happen before the end of this year.
With the One UI 3.0, Samsung is bringing in several changes on top of what Google introduced with Android 11. There will be a significant improvement in the widgets for the lock screen and always-on display. Moreover, the respective app widgets can now be added on the home screen by long-pressing its app icon.
Currently, the users can’t set the theme on their devices running on One UI 3.0 beta. However, Samsung has already confirmed to add this feature in the final release. The device will also show an interactive preview when setting the wallpaper. Samsung also increased the input languages of the default keyboard app to 370.
The newly added trash option in the Messages app will keep the recently deleted messages for 30 days. There will be suggestions for accessibility features based on usage patterns. With this new update, the essential accessibility options will show up while using the device for the first time.
