Samsung Galaxy S21 Display May Get A Cool New Name

The Samsung Galaxy S21 display may get a cool new name. The ‘Samsung Blade’ display got patented by the company. The certification information surfaced on EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office). The ‘Blade’ part may sound familiar, as Samsung recently patented something called ‘Blaze Bezel‘.

This new patent application is categorized as Class 9. As far as the description for the patent goes, it states the following: “Display panel; flat panel display screens; displays for smart phones; OLED (Organic light emitting diode) display panels; touch screens”.

That sure suggests we’re looking at an upcoming smartphone display. Samsung has been using the ‘Dynamic AMOLED’ name for its flagship displays thus far, but that may change next year.

The Galaxy S21 display may get a cool new name that just got certified

The Samsung Galaxy S21 series may feature ‘Blade’ displays. This is only a wild guess at this point, as this is just a patent. The timing does seem to be perfect, though, as the Galaxy S21 series is expected to arrive sooner than initially thought.

Samsung may announce its Galaxy S21 flagships as early as January. Several reports suggested that will happen, and some of them come from rather reliable sources.

At this point, we can only guess why Samsung would do something like that. The company probably wants to try and trump its rivals with this early launch.

The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2021 has been moved to the summer of 2021, so there will be a huge hole in the first quarter when it comes to launches. That may be yet another reason for this move.

It remains to be seen how Samsung plans to pull that off, as nothing indicates that the Snapdragon 875 will arrive early. It is possible that Samsung will announce the Galaxy S21 series in January, but that you’ll have to wait a bit longer in order to get it.

The company is, once again, planning to release three smartphones as part of the Galaxy S release cycle. The Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra will allegedly arrive. All three phones already leaked in renders, by the way.
