Google Pixel Phones Now Have A Screenshot Button In The Power Menu

Android 11 brought in some nifty tweaks along with it. Good thing is that with the latest November update, Google Pixel phones are getting back the screenshot button in the power menu.

For those of you who do not know, Android 11 revamped the power menu. Normally, the power menu opens when you press the physical lock/unlock key.

But Google, in part of integrating the Google Pay and Google Home, some key buttons like screenshot were removed from the Android 11 update on Google Pixel devices.

However, the screenshot button in the power menu is now back with the November update. The screenshot button appears on the same line as the emergency and shutdown keys.

Although the new update fixes one of the concerns of the users, there are some more that need to be addressed. Firstly, the device controls are located at the very top of the screen.

Moreover, there are only three actions that can be performed at a time. This is a limitation upon which, screenshot button was also removed by Google. Luckily, it is coming back.

Previously, needed to hold and press the lock + volume down button, as the Assistant or use the shortcut in the Recents menu in order to take a screenshot.

If the Lockdown button is disabled, the Screenshot button appears as a third tile

Screenshots taken in the previously mentioned way would hide the navigation bar and status bar. Good thing is that the new way brings redesign of the multitasking screen.

Notably, it came in for the gesture and legacy of 3-button navigation. Sadly, the support for 2-button navigation was left out. Now, the screenshot works when using a 2-button navigation option.

This piece of information was shared by one of the users on Reddit. The November update for the Google Pixel started rolling out last week, and by now, it should have arrived on several Pixel devices.

Besides, you need to make sure to disable the Lockdown button in order to show the screenshot button. Apparently, the Screenshot button appears as a third tile, only if the Lockdown button is disabled. Otherwise, it will appear as an overflow menu.

FYI, the Lockdown button is an important feature. This allows you to lock all biometric sensors of the phone with the tap of a button. So, you can either keep that option available or disable it for the screenshot button.

Since Pixel 2 users have skipped the November 2020 update, they should get the screenshot button with the December security patch. Let us know in the comments below if you have received the update on your Pixel device or not.
