Judge Confirms Trump's TikTok Ban Has Been Blocked

TikTok ban will not be put into motion, it has been blocked by the US judge. The US Judge, Wendy Beetlestone, confirmed this is the case, by stating that the risk presented by the government isn’t enough to make the ban happen.

As most of you probably already know, the Trump administration attempted to ban TikTok. That ban was supposed to take effect on November 12, but it won’t happen.

Three TikTok creators argued that such a ban infringed their First Amendment rights to free expression. The White House, on the other hand, claimed that TikTok represents a national security threat, due to its ties to China.

The TikTok ban has been blocked yet again, three creators won the appeal

That being said, Judge Wendy Beetlestone said that the plaintiffs demonstrated “a clear likelihood of irreparable harm”. She also added that the government’s argument was “phrased in the hypothetical”, and the risk presented did not outweigh the public interest in stopping the move.

TikTok’s temporary CEO, Vanessa Papas, also had something to say. She said that the company was “deeply moved” by the support from its creators.

Do note that this is not the first time this ban has been rejected. One judge already blocked the ban on the grounds of it being exceeded. That decision is being appealed, by the way. This is a separate case, it seems.

For those of you who would like to know who are the three TikTok creators, they are Douglas Marland, Cosette Rinab, and Alec Chambers. It seems like the Trump administration’s ban on TikTok is nowhere close to being fulfilled. The aforementioned appeal may change things, though, we’ll see.

TikTok has been in hot waters because of this ban for quite some time now. The app / service became extremely popular rather fast. Its short-video format appeals to a lot of people, and it seems like some of its creators are fully willing to fight this ban.
