Motorola Testing An Unusual 105Hz Refresh Rate For Its Next Phone

These days it is pretty common for smartphones to come with high refresh-rate displays. In line with this, new reports suggest that Motorola is testing out an unusual 105Hz refresh rate display for its next phone.

Notably, this 105Hz refresh rate panel will be included in the next flagship phone from Motorola. Well, this is not the first time Motorola has opted for a high-refresh-rate display.

The company joined the bandwagon this year with its 90Hz displays on Motorola Edge, Edge+, and Moto G 5G Plus smartphones. It seems like the company wants to up the numbers with a 105Hz refresh rate.

XDA’s Editor-in-chief, Mishaal Rehman, shared this piece of info on Twitter. The refresh rate of a display, normally, is a multiple of 30 or 24. This is to reduce micro stutters when watching videos.

However, this information about Motorola testing an unusual 105Hz refresh rate panel for its next phone hints the tradition is going to break.

Motorola is testing out this 105Hz refresh rate for its device codenamed “Nio.” There is no confirmation whether or not the phone will ship with this peak configuration.

As per XDA, Motorola may divide this 105Hz refresh rate into 24 or 30 evenly, and is testing this refresh rate only during development. It may cap the refresh rate at 90Hz when the phone launches.

Motorola’s next flagship will pack a 6.7-inches display, 5,000 mAh battery & much more
