OnePlus 8 Series Update Brings The 'Canvas' Feature & Much More

The OnePlus 8 series is getting a new update as we speak, and the ‘Canvas’ feature is a part of it. This update is marked as ‘OxygenOS 11.0.1.1’, and in addition to the Canvas feature, quite a few additional changes are listed.

This is a stable update for both the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro. It is rolling out as we speak, though do note that it may take a while for you to get it. This is a staged update, of course, and it could take up to a week to arrive to everyone.

That being said, the ‘Canvas’ feature is the same one that landed on the OnePlus 8T a while back. This feature can automatically draw a wireframe picture for your Ambient / AOD mode, and it will draw it based on your wallpaper.

This feature does work really well on the OnePlus 8T, by the way, it’s kind of unique. You can access it via the Settings section, by tapping the Customization -> Wallpaper -> Canvas.

This update also brings the Android Security Patch for October 2020 to both devices. The update optimizes the frame stability algorithm to make the experience smoother. It also optimizes the adaptive brightness algorithm, making 8,192 levels of automatic brightness adjustment more comfortable.

The background process management mechanism has been optimized to improve standby performance. The quick setting has been adjusted to three lines as well, while the system stability has been improved.

OnePlus also added some network-related adjustments. It optimized the intelligent 5G function to extend battery endurance capacity. It also optimized Wi-Fi connection to improve the stability of connectivity.

The last section that was mentioned in the changelog is the ‘Bluetooth’ section. The company optimized the Wi-Fi connection to reduce the transfer delay. It also fixed the low probability issue that the device ends up muted after connecting to Bluetooth.
