The SwiftKey Dark Mode Now Finally Follows System Theme

SwiftKey has been getting quite a bunch of features in the recent past. And as per the latest reports, a new feature that the Microsoft owned SwiftKey gets adaptive them feature where the keyboard follows the system theme.

This means that as per the dark or light mode set in your smartphone, SwiftKey will follow the same theme. This could come in handy if you do not use dark mode all day.

The SwiftKey adaptive theme feature will follow and match your system theme. The good news is that the feature is available to all the SwiftKey stable version users.

Apparently, this makes your keyboard more visible during the daytime, as the SwiftKey will use the light theme. And would not be a sore for your eyes at night as it will automatically change to a night theme.

Thought this feature is not something new. In fact, this feature should have been there pretty early, and it seems long overdue. But Google also added this feature a few months ago to its Gboard.

Dark Mode, which was one of the most popular features after the launch of Android 10, made its way to SwiftKey back in February this year. But it did not add the automatic theme changing option.

The new adaptive theme feature has made its way to SwiftKey stable release 7.6.6.11

While this feature, a few days ago, was only live with the SwiftKey beta update. However, now reports confirm that it is arriving for SwiftKey stable version 7.6.6.11.

Note that your smartphone needs to support dark mode or night mode, whatever your OEM calls it, in order for SwiftKey to support this adaptive theme feature.

Apart from the SwiftKey adaptive theme, the update fixes an issue that prevents switching between Pinyin layouts. For those who were having trouble with that, the latest version of the SwiftKey solves that.

Additionally, the app also gets the redesigned thumb mode. Users will be able to see the arrow keys now live at the bottom of the SwiftKey keyboard.

It is nice to see that Microsoft did not spend too much time being in the beta version of the app and pushed the SwiftKey adaptive theme for the stable version users as well.

The update is rolling out via the Google Play Store for all the stable version users of the SwiftKey keyboard app. If you have not yet updated the app, then you can check for the update in the Play Store.
