Stadia Now Lets You Stream Your Gameplay To YouTube

Google today finally launched the capability for Stadia players to stream their gameplay directly to YouTube.

This is a feature (one of the many features) that was talked about and highlighted leading up to the Stadia launch in November of 2019. But like State Share, Crowd Choice, Crowd Play and others, the stream to YouTube feature wasn’t going to be a Stadia launch feature.

That probably isn’t a huge deal to anyone who doesn’t really stream. Or plan to. But it is a big feature. If for nothing else, because Google is making it pretty easy to do. And the possibility to stream your cloud-powered gaming to a streaming video site just seemed like an exciting feature for users to have.

You can only stream Stadia gameplay to YouTube on PC

Right now this isn’t a feature you can use unless you’re playing Stadia games on your PC.

Google has laid out its list of steps to get the feature up and running. That list of steps also includes the requirements for streaming to work. You will need a PC so you can play games from Stadia.com. And that PC has to have Chrome installed.

Unfortunately this means that you can’t stream gameplay directly to YouTube if you’re on your compatible Android smartphone. Nor can you stream directly to YouTube if you’re playing from the Chromecast Ultra.

However, that is something that is likely to be coming down the road. Just like with wireless Stadia controller support on Chromecast Ultra before it was available for mobile and PC users.

Still, there’s no way to tell how long the expansion of the feature will take. It could be a few months or quite a bit longer.

Cyberpunk 2077 arrives on Stadia tomorrow

If you’re chomping at the bit to dive into Night City and tear up the world of Cyberpunk 2077, your wait is almost over.

The game will launch on Stadia tomorrow, December 9, and it’ll go live for play at 4PM PST. Although the game launches tomorrow for Stadia users, you still have until December 18 to buy the game on Stadia and get a free Premiere Edition bundle from Google.

So if you’re planning for Stadia to be your platform of choice for Cyberpunk, make sure to pick up the game before that date.

Cyberpunk 2077 is also joined by other games this week. Like Watch Dogs, Watch Dogs 2, Valkyria Chronicles 4: Complete Edition, and Destroy All Humans just to name a few.
