Gigabyte Targets Mid-Range Gaming With Its New Ryzen Laptops

Hot on the heels of Razer’s CES announcement for its new Blade laptops, Gigabyte has new gaming laptops to announce as well, although these are targeted more at the mid-range consumer and they’re powered by Ryzen CPUs instead of Intel.

There are multiple different gaming laptops in the 2021 pipeline from Gigabyte, but two of the ones in focus here are the mid-range A5 and A7, both of which come with a Ryzen mobile processor inside.

Each laptop was designed with users in mind that aren’t necessarily just looking for a gaming laptop. But rather a laptop that can be used for gaming as well as other tasks like working from home, online schooling and just your general browsing.

Since these are geared more at a mid-range user, they also come with more of a mid-range price. Which makes them more affordable to a wider audience. Gigabyte says that it’s targeting “millennials and Gen Z users.”

The new Gigabyte mid-range gaming laptops start at $999

If you’re looking to get into gaming laptops on the cheap, or at least “cheaper,” Gigabyte should you have covered with its new mid-range options.

The 15-inch A5 starts at a retail price of $999. The price can likely go up based on configuration options, but that’s not a bad starting point. If you opt for the 17-inch A7, prices start at $1,399.

Both laptops come with not only the new Ryzen 5000 CPU, but up to NVIDIA’s new RTX 3070 GPU. So while you probably won’t be pushing out ultra settings visuals in any of your games, you probably won’t be doing too shabby either.

When it comes to cooling the A5 and the A7 are using the Windforce cooling system. Which was designed to help cut down on the turbulence for fans. So they continue to run as optimally as possible.

The laptops feature impressive refresh rates on the screens, too. Configurations include both 144Hz and 240Hz displays. You’ll also find some of the usual things you find on a gaming laptop. Like backlit keyboards and a plethora of ports.

Availability should pop up in February

Though these have just been announced, it doesn’t look like it’ll be too long before consumers can get their hands on these laptops.

Gigabyte is aiming to launch them sometime towards the end of next month. As for where you can buy them, you’re probably looking at multiple online retailers. Such as Newegg, Amazon, Best Buy and more. And of course you can probably buy them direct from Gigabyte.
