You Will Have To Buy A Charger For Your Galaxy S21

As many had speculated, there is no charger included in the box with the Samsung Galaxy S21.

Fortunately, prices did go down on the Galaxy S21 this year, so at least you’re not paying the same price as the Galaxy S2o for no charger. And on top of that, the charger from the Galaxy S20 will still work with the Galaxy S21. So that’s a bit of a silver lining.

After Apple decided to take the charger out of the box with the iPhone 12 last year, we knew it was only a matter of time before Samsung and other Android manufacturers followed suite. Though, we are a bit surprised that Samsung is doing that this year.

Any USB-C charger will work

Samsung is still including a USB-C to USB-C cable in the box, and any USB-C charger will work with the Galaxy S21. Including the one from the Galaxy S20. Unfortunately, older Samsung phones didn’t ship with USB-C wall chargers, but if you have a USB-C to USB-A cable, those will still work too. They’ll just charge a bit slower.

Samsung is selling its 25W USB-C PD charger though, which will cost you $35. This is the same one that was included in the box with the Galaxy S20 and Note 20 series last year.

Additionally, if you’re looking for a cheaper option that still does fast charging Anker has a 20W USB-C PD wall charger for $17. Sure that’s not as fast as the 25W that Samsung is offering, but you won’t see a big difference between 20W and 25W.

This year, the Galaxy S21 lineup sees a $200 price cut across the line, compared to the Galaxy S20 lineup from last year. So leaving the charger out of the box doesn’t sting as much as it would have if prices still started at $799. But thankfully, Samsung has always stuck with a universal charging port, unlike Apple – and that’s USB-C.
