Unlocked Google Pixel 4a 5G To Be Available In 'Clearly White' As Well

The Google Pixel 4a 5G comes in two color variants – Just Black and Clearly White. However, the latter is exclusive to Verizon’s version of the phone. Those who want to buy a carrier unlocked model of the device have to settle for the black colored unit. But that is changing soon. The unlocked Pixel 4a 5G will be soon available in a white color variant as well.

An official listing for the unlocked Pixel 4a 5G on B&H Photo Video reveals that a Clearly White color option for the phone is “Coming soon”. It will be available for pre-order starting January 28, 2021. It will cost the same $499 as the Just Black color variant.

The white-colored unlocked Pixel 4a 5G looks aesthetically identical to Verizon’s version with a mint green power button. However, if you didn’t already know, the Verizon-exclusive model is slightly pricier at $599 because it supports millimeter-wave 5G (nnWave), or should we say, it works with the carrier’s ultra-wideband 5G network. The unlocked model only works with the low-band sub-6GHz 5G networks.

Clearly White unlocked Google Pixel 4a 5G will be available later this month

Like many other smartphone makers, Google also made some major changes to its smartphone strategy last year. The web giant launched three Pixel devices in 2020: Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, and Pixel 5. However, none of the phones come in more than two color options.

The Pixel 4a is available in black and blue colors, with the latter being exclusive to the Google Store. The Pixel 5, meanwhile, comes in green and black color variants. The 4a 5G also arrived in two color variants, black and white, but not if you wanted to buy it unlocked.

That was disappointing from Google but the company is now making amends, albeit a bit too late as the phone was selling at decent discounts over the holidays and buyers didn’t have a choice between colors. However, if you’re mulling buying an unlocked Pixel 4a 5G in the coming weeks, you will have a choice between black and white color options.

There’s no difference between the two variants other than the color though. You’re still getting a Snapdragon 765G-powered phone with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It is a plastic-made device featuring a 6.2-inch Full HD+ OLED display. The screen comes with Gorilla Glass 3 protection and features a 60Hz refresh rate.

There’s a dual-camera setup at the back, consisting of a 12.2-megapixel main camera and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. A 3,800mAh battery fuels this phone. It supports 18W fast wired charging with USB Power Delivery 2.0. The Pixel 4a 5G runs Android 11 out of the box.
