Samsung has started rolling out the Android 11-based One UI 3.0 update to the Galaxy A51. The mid-range Galaxy smartphone is picking up the latest version of Samsung’s custom Android skin with software version A515FXXU4DUB1. The new update also introduces the February 2021 Android security patch to the device.
The Galaxy A51 was one of the most popular smartphones of 2020. The device was even the best-selling Android smartphone in the first half of the year, second only to the Apple iPhone 11. And much to the joy of millions of its users around the world, Samsung has now started pushing the Android 11-based One UI 3.0 update to the device. The 5G variant of the phone should also pick up the update in the coming weeks.
Galaxy A51 starts receiving the Android 11-based One UI 3.0 update
Samsung has been impressive with Android 11 updates so far and that amazing run continues. The Korean company has already seeded the latest iteration of Android OS to all its recent flagship devices. Not only smartphones, but Samsung has rolled out the Android 11 update to its Galaxy Tab S7 series of flagship tablets as well. Interestingly, the Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7+ received One UI 3.1 with Android 11.
Moreover, Samsung has also already updated some of its mid-range and budget smartphones with Android 11. The Galaxy M31, Galaxy F41, and the Galaxy A21 have all picked up the big update in one region or the other. The Galaxy A51 is now joining them in the list as well.
This update should bring all the goodies that are part and parcel of Android 11. Additionally, there will also be some teaks and add-ons from Samsung. A dedicated conversations section in the notifications, support for chat bubbles, and one-time permissions are some of the notable features of Android 11.
One UI 3.0 additionally brings a new feature-rich keyboard, a redesigned system UI, repositioned volume controls, improvements to stock apps, improved Digital Wellbeing and Parental Controls, and more to Galaxy smartphones. Most of these new features should be headed to the Galaxy A51 as well with this update.
The Android 11 update for the Galaxy A51 is currently rolling out for users in Russia. It should be available in more regions in the coming weeks. You should receive a notification once the over the air (OTA) update reaches your unit. You can also manually check for updates by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. Since it’s a major update, we recommend you connect your phone to a stable Wi-Fi network before downloading the OTA file.
