Samsung Unveils Galaxy A12 With Large Battery & Quad Camera Setup

Samsung has just announced a new smartphone, the Galaxy A12. This is the company’s new budget smartphone, and it actually has quite a bit to offer in its price range.

The Galaxy A12 got announced in India, and Samsung did not offer any information regarding its availability in other markets. The phone does have thin bezels on the sides, and above its display, but the bottom bezel is considerably thicker.

The Samsung Galaxy A12 has a side-facing fingerprint scanner and four rear-facing cameras

You’ll also notice that a waterdrop display notch is included here. The fingerprint scanner is placed on the right-side side of the phone, and it doubles as a power / lock key. The volume rocker buttons are also included on that side.

There are four cameras placed on the back of this phone, led by a 48-megapixel unit. More on that later. The phone is made out of plastic, as you’d expect at this price point.

The device features a 6.5-inch HD+ (1560 x 720) LCD Infinity-V display. The MediaTek Helio P35 SoC fuels this phone, while Samsung also included 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage on the inside. You can expand its storage via a microSD card, by the way.

A large battery is also included

Android 10 comes pre-installed on the device, along with Samsung’s One UI 2.5 skin. A 5,000mAh battery is included here as well, and it supports 15W fast wired charging.

There are two SIM card slots in this phone, and a 3.5mm headphone audio jack is a part of the offering as well. The same can be said for Bluetooth 5, while the device supports Dual 4G VoLTE.

A 48-megapixel main camera (Samsung’s GM2 sensor, f/2.0 aperture) is backed by a 5-megapixel ultra-wide unit (f/2.2 aperture). On top of that, Samsung included a 2-megapixel depth camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera (f/2.4 aperture) on the back.

The device measures 164 x 75.8 x 8.8mm, and it weighs 205 grams. It comes in Black, Blue, and White colors, and its two variants are priced at INR12,999 ($178) and INR13,999 ($192) in India. The phone goes on sale today.
