OnePlus 8/8T Series Picks Up A New Update With May Security Patch & More

If you own an OnePlus 8 or 8T series phone, then there is a piece of good news for you. The company has recently started rolling out a new update for the OnePlus 8 and 8T phones that packs May 2021 security patch.

Not only this new update bumps the security patch level to May 2021, but it also brings some more goodies with it. Notably, the update brings smoothness in sliding in the home screen, improves network performance, and much more.

As part of the bug fixes, this new update is very important. Because as per the official changelog, it improves the smoothness while sliding on the home screen, fixes screenshot capturing issue, adds bug fix for low battery notification not working, etc.

Moreover, it also brings fixes for the Gallery app where newly captured photos were not saved as expected, and Guest Mode showed an abnormal user interface.

Along with bug fixes for System and the Gallery app, this new OnePlus 8 and 8T series May update brings patches for the Phone app and also improves the network performance.

OnePlus 8/8 Pro is receiving OxygenOS 11.0.6.6, while the OnePlus 8T is getting OxygenOS 11.0.8.12

Talking about the firmware versions, the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro units are picking up the update as OxygenOS 11.0.6.6. On the other hand, the OnePlus 8T is getting the update as OxygenOS 11.0.8.12.

The OnePlus 8T units in Europe (EU) and India (IN) are receiving the update as 11.0.8.13. The changelog is similar for both the 8 and 8T series devices.

The update weighs around 386MB in size for the OnePlus 8T units, whereas it weighs 363MB in size for the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro devices.

As per 9To5Google, the updates are live for the trio in India and North America. The EU regions are expected to join the bandwagon in the coming days.

If you haven’t received the update notification, then you can manually check for it. To do that, head over to Settings > System > System updates. A new update notification will pop up if the updater detects any update.
