Samsung Smart Monitor Now Available Globally, In More Sizes

Samsung has announced the global availability of its Smart Monitor lineup launched in November last year. Initially limited to markets across the United States, Canada, and China, the world’s first do-it-all monitors that can also double up as a TV are now available globally and in even more sizes. The flagship Smart Monitor M7 (model M70A) now comes in a new larger 43-inch variant along with the existing 32-inch variant. The more affordable Smart Monitor M5 (M50A), meanwhile, is getting a smaller 24-inch variant on top of the existing 32-inch and 27-inch size variants. This model is also getting a white color variant while the Smart Monitor M7 still only comes in black.

Samsung expands its Smart Monitor lineup

Samsung says it designed the Smart Monitor for today’s businesses, academia, and consumers working, learning, and staying entertained at home. The device offers an all-in-one solution with a vast range of connectivity options, built-in 10W stereo speakers, and integrated media and productivity apps including Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, Apple TV, Microsoft 365 apps, and more.

The Smart Monitor M7 comes with a 4K display while the M5 offers a Full HD (FHD) resolution. Both models have a 16:9 aspect ratio, a 178-degree horizontal and vertical viewing angle, 250 nits peak brightness, and HDR10 video playback capability. They run Tizen OS version 5.5 and also support Samsung DeX and Apple AirPlay 2.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 4.2, two HDMI 2.0 ports, and three USB Type-A ports (two on M5). Additionally, the M7 also gets a USB Type-C port.

Samsung has priced the Smart Monitor M7 at $399 for the 32-inch variant. Pricing details of the new 43-inch variant are not known. The Smart Monitor M5, meanwhile, costs $199 for the new 24-inch variant. The older 32-inch and 27-inch variants are priced at $279 and $229 respectively.

Samsung Smart Monitor also gets new features

Samsung is also promising new and enhanced features with its expanded Smart Monitor lineup. The devices are picking support for Samsung TV Plus. It is an ad-supported free TV streaming service for the company’s Smart TV users. It offers both live and on-demand content and access to over 150 channels. There’s also a new Universal Guide feature that will provide content recommendations from all major streaming services based on the user’s preferences and viewing patterns.

Moreover, the Samsung Smart Monitor lineup is also picking support for Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. It previously only featured Samsung’s own Bixby voice assistant. The company has further promised to update the Remote Access feature to “PC on Screen” next month. This will enable simple connectivity between the monitor and external PCs.

Samsung’s sustainability drive continues with its Smart Monitor lineup as well. The 43-inch Smart Monitor M7 will come with a solar-powered remote control made from recycled plastic. Remote controls for other models are also “partially crafted” from recycled plastic.
