Exynos 2200 With AMD GPU May Not Be Exclusive To Samsung

Samsung may not be the only company that will use the Exynos 2200 SoC with AMD GPU. As most of you know, Samsung’s Exynos SoC with AMD GPU is on the way. The two companies have confirmed as much.

That being said, it is expected to get announced by the end of this year. It was presumed that this chip, allegedly called the Exynos 2200, will be exclusive to Samsung, but that won’t be the case, it seems.

The Exynos 2200 SoC with AMD GPU won’t be exclusive to Samsung

This chip is expected to be included in the Galaxy S22 smartphones next, at least in some markets. Samsung’s upcoming flagships won’t be the only ones to use it, though, as Vivo seems to be getting ready to do the same.

According to a report from Weibo, that will be the case. This processor is said to fuel Vivo’s upcoming flagship smartphone, though we still don’t know what device that is.

It’s not surprising that Vivo is the company in question, though. This China-based company used Samsung’s Exynos chips in the past. Considering that Vivo is on board, other OEMs may look to participate as well.

Exynos processors have been a step behind Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips thus far. Samsung is hoping that AMD’s GPU will change things around, and at the very least bring them on the same playing field.

Other OEMs may show interest as well

Other OEMs may be more interested when the chip proves itself. We don’t know much about it thus far, as no specifics leaked just yet. All we know is that it will be a flagship-grade processor with AMD’s GPU, which will be immensely powerful.

This processor will become official at some point in 2021, we don’t know when exactly. The Exynos 2100 was announced in January this year, alongside Samsung’s new smartphones. Chances are that its successor will drop this year, though, towards the end of it.
